About Virginia Medical Training Academy

James and Lindsay opened Virginia Medical Training Academy, LLC in June of 2020. Together, they combined James’ expertise of a seasoned paramedic/firefighter and teaching experience and Lindsay’s nursing education/background. While collaborating as a couple and business partners, they worked towards the goal of starting a medical training academy that focused primarily on producing quality EMT students and preparing them for success.

In December of 2020, they welcomed their first child together (on Christmas Day) and they got married in January of 2021. As a now blended family of seven, they were ready to focus on the business and get it off the ground for a June 2021 launch! In April of 2021, a space was found for VMTA in Ashland, Virginia and business plans progressed very quickly.  Classes commenced in July and before they were even six months into their endeavor, James found himself in a position where he had to retire from the Fredericksburg Fire Department after almost 21 years of service. The business was now requiring his attention full time!

The academy is elated to not only offer accelerated and weekend training EMT courses but also CPR certification, Stop the Bleed training and Babysitting Basics Course. VMTA is esthetically structured by the owners with designated lecture space, practical learning space (EMS training equipment available on site) and adequate lounging areas.

Virginia Medical Training Academy will continue to offer quality instructional personnel, experienced practical assessment instructors, and unique EMT courses, following a very intense curriculum.  VMTA’s goals are to become the Virginia state leader in production of EMT members in the community as well as maintain and surpass the state requirements for NREMT success pass rates.
