  • How long is Virginia Medical Training Academy's training?

    Our accelerated classes take 3 weeks to complete, while our weekend only classes take approximately 8 weeks to complete.

  • Where are Virginia Medical Training Academy's classes held?

    All classes will be held at our academy in Ashland, VA.  The address is 11138 Air Park Road.  It is located right off Interstate 95 and easily accessible to food, gas and hotels.

  • How much do Virginia Medical Training Academy's classes cost?

    The EMT class costs $1,500 per student.

  • What is included in the cost of the class?

    The cost of the class includes the textbook (with online access), as well as CPR certification (if needed).  The textbook used for class is AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured (12th Edition).

  • Can anyone take Virginia Medical Training Academy's classes?

    Students must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with a parent’s permission by the first day of class. Students must also hold a current CPR certification.

  • Does Virginia Medical Training Academy offer CPR testing prior to starting your classes?

    Yes, we offer ASHI certification at no additional fee when you are enrolled in our EMT classes.

  • Can I practice being an EMT as soon as the course is completed?

    No. Our course fully prepares you to sit for and pass the NREMT certification exam and any other state/licensing requirements.  Once these requirements are completed, you will be able to practice as an emergency medical technician (EMT).  Please call with questions regarding the specific requirements of the state you are in.

  • Who teaches Virginia Medical Training Academy's classes?

    All of our classes are taught by educational coordinators for the state of Virginia, paramedics, EMT’s and other guest speakers to enhance your learning experience.

  • I signed up for a class, but now I have a conflict in my schedule. What should I do?

    No worries.  Every month we offer new classes that will be starting.  Due to the amount of supplies/textbooks we order ahead of time, we do not offer refunds of deposits or tuition.  However, we continue to offer a variety of class times to fit the needs of each student.  Any student not able to make a class time that they registered for is given the opportunity to move to any other class in the future.

  • Virginia Medical Training Academy cancelled my class. What will happen now?

    In the rare event that the academy has to cancel a class, you will be notified immediately.  You will be offered a seat in the next available class (or future class).  If that will not work for your schedule, we will issue you a refund of your deposit/tuition.
